Dining At The Sky Beach And Seafood Grill In Hopewell

Twenty minutes west along the coast from Montego Bay you will find the Sky Beach and Seafood Grill in the town of Hopewell. The rustic charm of this seaside restaurant does not hide the evidence of personal attention and work that went into creating this delightful locale. Tables on the grass, some with a thatched roof above them, dot the large outdoor area. Many are plastic but covered with tablecloths and decorated with a lit kerosene lantern at nights. In the middle of the property is a large circular bar adjacent to the open kitchen where diners confer with the chefs to select the fish or lobster for their meal.

Before or after eating you may be tempted to stroll around the ground or sit on a bench at the edge of the Caribbean sea to take a moment to say thank you for your blessings. In this country-style getaway from the hustle and bustle of Montego Bay it's hard not to feel a sense of gratitude. I have found the service to always be friendly and professional and if you're lucky enough to meet the charming owner Mrs. McKenzie while you're there it will certainly add to this already pleasant experience.

The menu, unlike many other rustic seafood eating spots, is quite varied featuring a variety of fish and fish fillets, conch and shrimp as well as lobster and crab when they are in season. Chicken is also available if you really have to be different. Side orders include Jamaican favourites such as bammy, plantain, festival, rice and peas, roast breadfruit and more before you settle down to dessert.

Dining at this restaurant is a "can't miss" experience if you want to sample real Jamaican cuisine, charm and ambiance. Click on the pics above and below for a closer look and taste of Sky Beach.
